He lived for a short time in Kuwait until his parents decided they wanted him to find a life with more opportunities. In 1984 they arranged for him to attend college in Toledo, OH to study engineering. A few years after graduation, Nazareth showed up at a comedy club in California. It was an “open mic” night and at midnight he took the stage before a crowd of nine drunks,
“They laughed so hard that one of them fell off his chair laughing,” Nazareth recollects, “I got hooked.”
The next day he hit the Comedy Store’s “open mic” night. Within a few months, Nazareth was performing regularly at Hollywood’s top comedy clubs. He won the Laugh Stop’s Comedy Competition and became one of the new faces at The Improv—The #1 Comedy Club in the U.S.
His own industry recognizes him as a leader. He has served as the President of the Christian Comedy Association—a group of more than 300 noteworthy comedians.
He and his wife of 17 years, Maha have three beautiful children and reside in Southern California. His book, You’re So Funny Daddy! Is a testimony to the fact that his most inspired and fulfilling role is as a husband and dad.
